Jimmy Brunt Paper Cut Artist

I was born in Bath, England, spent almost ten years in rural Wales, and now live in Limousin, in Central France, with my wife and three young children, in a ram-shackle old farmhouse.

I studied Art History in Southampton, but have never formally studied the applied arts. My experience is in stencils and street art.  Between 2005 and 2011, I ran a business that supplied over 50 shops and galleries in the UK with stencilled wooden signs, and latterly, intricately stencilled wall art.  I have been cutting paper and stencils for almost ten years now, and my current paper cuts are a direct product of all that experience.

Whilst working with stencils I was intrigued by the images created during the cutting process, and I now want to explore the use of the stencils themselves as an art medium.

I am influenced by most of the major street artists, including but not exclusively, Nick Walker, Blek de Rat, and BNE, but also contemporary paper cut artists like Rob Ryan and the awesome Emma Van Leest.

My current style of art heavily focuses on a sense of architectural place, and my approach to cutting paper in this way is unique.

Over the following months I have plans to cut various sites in Brighton, the South Coast of England, and a few carefully chosen northern towns, along with a few little projects that will have to remain secret for now.
